The Ash SureFlow™ is an innovative long-term (>30 days) tunneled central venous catheter for hemodialysis.  The design objective and elements of this next generation “Ash Catheter” were engineered by Stephen R. Ash, MD and the engineering team at Ash Access Technology, Inc. with the intention of addressing two key complications with today’s catheters – frequent flow failures and the high incidence of catheter-related bloodstream infection. Dr. Ash had designed the original Ash Split Cath® (Medcomp®) which was launched in 1997 and became the “gold standard” catheter for hemodialysis by securing nearly 60% of the U.S. market by 2002.  Key elements of the Ash Split Cath® continue to be seen in the vast majority of hemodialysis catheter models today.
